About
I have been writing and producing my own music since 2019, however have only recently started releasing to streaming platforms. I am venturing into the singer-songwriter side of music by writing songs with lyrics rather than the instrumental approach I usually go for. I felt like this project would need to be very lyrics-centred if I wanted to convey the seasons and tell the seasonal stories in my mind to the best of my ability. I'm really enjoying writing my lyrics around different situations, people, objects and places. My music typically tends to feature a lot of synth and guitar. Since I really started getting into songwriting in late 2019, just before lockdown, I have recorded many of my projects at home on my DAW. I tend to draw inspiration from many genres: synth pop, acoustic, alternative and indie-pop. These are just a few of the genres that I enjoy listening to myself and so I am hoping to take inspiration from artists that I generally wouldn't write similarly to during this project.

The Seasons Project
Seasons is compiled of 4 separate EPs, corresponding to each season of the year. I was inspired to do an album based on the seasons while watching the film Emma (2020) based on the Jane Austen novel. I loved their use of title cards to show the changes in seasons as the story progressed and wanted to create something similar musically. It has also inspired the order of my EP releases, starting with Autumn and ending with Summer rather than the typical Spring to Winter timeline. I also regularly create playlists of what I'm listening to monthly and summer themed playlists during the holidays so this was a topic that was already pretty interesting to me. During the making of the project, I discovered that one of my main musical inspirations for my colder seasons, Taylor Swift, carried out a very similar project. She wrote her album Folklore with spring and summer in mind and later decided to complete a sister album, Evermore, to fill in the rest of the seasons (YouTube, 2020). I featured most of her music on my autumn and winter inspiration playlists, including songs from Folklore, which you can find on my Music and Inspiration page. This is because I usually associate her music with the colder seasons anyway and I found through my research paper that most other fans of hers do too. I do see the association between some of the songs on Folklore to spring/summer, with two of my favourites, august and the last great american dynasty, reminding me the most of the lighter seasons. However, personally, I still associate some of the Folklore songs with autumn and winter, which shows the subjectivity of this subject. For my own project I really wanted to make it clear to listeners that each EP had songs that really belonged on it and could represent the months of each season well. Of course, I can't guarantee that every single listener will agree with the creative choices I made to do this, but I would like to convince as many as possible, by mirroring different seasonal aesthetics through sound and lyrics, that these songs really sound like autumn, winter, spring and summer. A lot of my music will be less-subtle than the songs that Swift included on her two seasonally inspired albums to do this. I wanted each song and EP to have a different personality and theme, just as the months and seasons do. The challenge was writing three songs that encapsulate a season without the whole track-list sounding the same. You can read more into each individual song, its inspiration and creation on my Music page.I have written, recorded, produced and released this project myself, however I am collaborating with many talented musicians to create the final product. My collaborators and their expected roles changed a few times throughout the project. I had planned for either Camilo or Shane to play bass, however this couldn't be arranged so Ben took over. A big thank you to all who have been involved. Check the collaborators, their roles on the project below!
