Here you can read the final lyrics for every song on the album. I had a few different processes this year when it came to lyrics. I decided very early on in the project that I would buy myself a cheap ring-bound notebook to write lyrics. I feel like the ring-bound deign was really practical because I could rip pages out if I felt they were going nowhere. I think that this really helped me to get those pages that I wasn't happy with out of sight and out of mind, allowing me to focus on continuing my writing with a blank slate. You can also read some of my first drafts in my lyric book at the bottom of this page. I wrote the lyrics to all of the songs once I got the main melody down. Sometimes I would have a phrase in mind going into a song or a theme that I'd like to include in my lyric before this but I would always fit it around the rhythm of my desired melody. To make it fit the melody better I would often alter either the rhythm of the melody or the lyrics. Collaborating with my singers during this stage was really useful to me. I wanted the lyrics, and their rhythm, to flow easily for them so they felt comfortable and could give the songs their best performance.

Lyric Book
Here are the first drafts and physical lyrics I wrote for some of the songs in Seasons. Some of the songs were written straight on a word document but most of them came from this notebook. These pages show the changes the project went through in the early stages. For example, I initially intended on the entire album following the same story and then wanted to follow four different seasonal stories in each EP. You can see that I had written dates as the titles of these songs, showing that they were following a story, kind of in the style of a diary. Autumn was originally going to be about the wedding in Smiling Not Blue and the events that followed. I was writing about the couple who got married in that song when writing When I Look At You, but decided to give each song in the EP a different theme and changed it up a bit.
